Eighty-five Montachusett Home Care employees gathered at Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 for a staff development day designed to offer connection, reflection and a great deal of fun. The invitation to spend a workday sporting a favorite costume brought much enthusiasm to the gathering. The creative talent in the room made the “best of” competition voted by peers a bit more challenging.
Guest speaker and facilitator Dean Slye, Senior Director of Human Resources at Benchmark Living, guided an exercise that encouraged staff to think about management styles, and preferences for approaching one’s work. The opportunity to reflect on individual styles gave participants an opportunity to think deeper about how they approach their work. Strengths and challenges resulting from various styles were explored.
Chief Human Resources Officer, Jennifer Murray who helped plan the day said, “teambuilding days are important and it was wonderful that we could disconnect from our day-to-day responsibilities and learn more about ourselves and each other. I’m pleased to hear such great feedback from staff.”
The afternoon activity brought an opportunity to creatively explore and highlight the role and importance of each department within the larger agency. The presentations showcased groups of staff who can problem solve a challenge quickly, who understand the importance on their roles and who know quite well the value of humor in a hard days work.
“The Montachuestt Home Care team is a combination of veteran staff who have provided critical and meaningful services for many years and newer staff who bring a different lens to our work. We couldn’t ask for a better combination of talent, diverse skills and commitment from people who are clearly devoted to our mission said Chris Cassidy, Chief Executive Officer at Montachusett home Care. “We see the best in their work every day.”
